Michelle Monique Scott Psychologist
I have been a registered psychologist for over 16 years. I work together with clients to develop kinder relationships to themselves through processing feelings, developing self understandings and building connections to different parts of the self. This aims to alleviate distress as well as to provide different ways of thinking, being and relating to oneself and others.
I am trained in several evidence-based approaches, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). My approach is trauma informed, neuroaffirming and LGBTIQA+ affirming. I understand psychological difficulties from psychodynamic theory including attachment-based theories within an interpersonal therapy framework.
I work with clients funded by Medicare, Work Cover, NDIS, private health, university student counselling and DVA/Open Arms. I have a special interest in assisting with processing the social trauma experienced by people who have experienced social exclusion in areas such as neurodiversity, gender identity, culture, disability, race, class. I currently work with adults and older teens who are able to consent independently to their own therapy.
